What is Pause? Is my family eligible?

Pause offers families of children (ages 0-24) with physical, mental, developmental, medical, behavioral and/or learning challenges, access to a broad range of support options maximizing the use of community resources and family support networks. On the current menu of options, Pause provides: respite, free family fun, caregiver networking/resourcing and community service events to help families with tangible needs.

How do I enroll?

  1. Complete the Family Enrollment Packet (required). 
  2. Complete the Child Profiles for all children living in the household (required). 
  3. Complete the Parent's Night Out Child Fact Form for all children that will be participating in the Parent's Night Out events (required).

What should I expect after sending in the enrollment packet?

Pause is led and organized by a small number of part time staff, college interns and many volunteers. Timeliness matters to us, but the enrollment process may take up to a week.  Here are the steps families should expect during the enrollment process.

  • New Enrollment Confirmation Email – This communication verifies the packet(s) have been received and have started to be processed.
  • Welcome Letter – a letter mailed to you from the Pause Program Coordinator that gives program vision and mission and ways to get plugged in as you start the enrollment process.
  • New Family Follow-Up Email – Our Pause Family Coordinator is your direct line of support and will contact you with next steps.  Because Pause has several different supports, this will include a 10 minute online tool we call the Family Journey Map.  This tool helps us best understand the needs of your family and how to best support you!

How do I find out about upcoming Pause events?

Email - The Family Coordinator ( will send an email with registration form to all Pause families one month prior to event. If your family does not have email, please request for a registration form to be mailed.

How do I register my family for an event?

Families are expected to complete and return a 1-page form. Enrollment is taken on a first come, first served basis. Limited availability is possible at Parent's Night Out events due to facility accommodations or volunteer availability. An email will be sent to the family confirming registration or advising the family of their waiting list status.
