Bridges Out of Poverty Day 1 Training

Description: Participants will receive specific strategies for
improving outcomes for people living in poverty, but the focus of the workshop is
to provide a broad overview of concepts.
Location: Butler County Educational Service Center
CEUs: 5.5 CEU for Social Work and Educators
Target Audience: Employers,
community organizations, social service agencies, and interested individuals
Cost: $20.00 per participant includes materials, workbook and boxed

QPR: Gatekeeper Training

Description: QPR stands for Question,
Persuade, and Refer. Lauren Perry,
FCFC Training Coordinator, will share 3 simple steps to becoming a
Gatekeeper so that you may possibly save a life from suicide.
The First 1000 days: The Importance of Early Brain and Childhood Development
Date: Tuesday, November, 29
Time: 6 PM – 8:30 PM
Description: Dr. Colleen Kraft, a national expert, will share what she knows regarding
the effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on young children and how
those can impact growth, development and functioning throughout the life span.
Interpersonal Safety in the Workplace
Date: Monday, December, 12
Time: 8:30 AM – 4 PM
Description: Dan Elliot, Cooperative Communication Specialist, will provide
participants with skills to assess threatening or dangerous situations,
recognize more choices in dealing with challenging situations, and use
communication strategies that deescalate threatening, hostile, or angry people.
Ongoing Training Opportunities
Free QPR Gatekeeper Training available
The FCFC Strong Families, Safe Communities program now has 20 QPR Suicide Prevention Certified Instructors trained & ready to conduct QPR Gatekeeper trainings in and around Butler County. QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer) is a very simple, yet highly effective & evidence based, method of preventing suicide. It provides adults ("Gatekeepers") with the tools they need to respond to the needs of a person who is suicidal and help them access needed services. QPR Gatekeeper Training is FREE and takes only 90 minutes to complete. If your organization is interested in holding a training please contact Lauren Perry, FCFC Training Coordinator at 513-785-6770.
40 Developmental Assets Trainings
The FCFC’s Asset Builders’ Network has many speakers and trainers available to provide information on the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets. Options include anything from a brief overview (20 to 45 minutes) to a 2.5 hour workshop. If you would like to request a speaker for your organization, please complete the Developmental Assets Presentation Request or contact Heather Wells to learn more.
New Worker Orientation
This annual training conducted by the Cross Systems Training Committee is designed for professionals in their first year of work in Butler County. It is a 2-day intensive overview of services and resources in the county. Next training will be Spring 2016.

Butler County Family and Children First Council Cancellation and Refund Policy: Registrants unable to attend a training session must notify FCFC at least 2 business days prior to the training date in order to receive a refund. Refunds will not be given for books and/or materials pre-ordered for a training. If you are unable to attend a training and do not notify us 2 business days prior to the training date, you will be charged the registration fee. If a training session is cancelled due to low registration, inclement weather, or other reasons we will email all participants. Fees, if applicable, will be refunded.
